With the collapse of the main battle front human forces had to disperse and hide in small combat groups. They were restricted to reconnaisance activities until the arrival of reinforcements 2 years later following the human victory at the Battle of Tharg 3 which re-established space superiority. Here a soldier has a respite and enjoys some rain.
